Gold prospecting is a wonderful hobby, for anyone who appreciates the great outdoors. People of all ages can prospect and it\u2019s an excellent family activity. You will probably not get rich from recreational prospecting, but it is an outstanding way to keep fit and enjoy the beautiful scenery of our great country.<\/p>\n\n\n

Prospecting – for most people the word conjures up an image of an old-timer panning for gold along a rivers bank. Prospectors did look like that in the old days, but today prospectors are also construction workers, stock brokers, mechanics, fishermen, housewives, geologists etc. – anyone who enjoys the great outdoors.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

If you are completely new to gold prospecting I highly recommend visiting the Gold Prospectors Association of America <\/a>(GPAA) site and find a local chapter. The reason I mention this is that there are numerous methods for finding gold, many locations that could potentially contain gold, and so many tricks for locating gold and a local chapter is one of your best sources of information.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Through the ages men and women have cherished gold, and many have had a compelling desire to amass great quantities of it\u2013so compelling a desire, in fact, that the frantic need to seek and hoard gold has been aptly named \u201cGold Fever.\u201d<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n
